How 'Wrath Of Man' Reaffirmed Jason Statham's Action Star Worth...! Posted on 23 Jun, 2021
Wrath of Man is the highest-grossing non-franchise/non-ensemble Jason Statham action film on Vudu and Fandango, has made roughly as much money worldwide as Mortal Kombat and has a larger global total than practically any other non-franchise/non-ensemble Jason Statham action film.
Not surprisingly, Jason Statham's Wrath of Man topped the charts at Vudu and FandangoNow this weekend, followed by Godzilla Vs. Kong, The Unholy (one of my favorite religious horror films in recent years), and Raya and the Last Dragon (for both charts). The action thriller from MGM (in North America) and Miramax (in other territories) arrived in theatres on May 6, a week before Spiral: From the Book of Saw (which debuted on PVOD yesterday) and two weeks before A Quiet Place part II and Cruella. It was the smallest summer opener since the Richard Pryor/Gene Wilder comedy See No Evil, Hear No Evil ($7.1 million) in 1989 and FX 2: The Deadly Art of Illusion ($5.4 million) in 1991, with an opening of just $8.3 million. However, by Jason Statham's standards, it's a big success.
